Site Safety and Health Officer

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Safety Plans: Create and enforce site-specific safety and health plans to ensure all activities comply with safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform regular inspections of the construction site to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Accident and Incident Reporting: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports, including root cause analysis and recommendations for preventing future occurrences.
  • Ensure Safety Compliance: Ensure the construction site complies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, The EM-385-1-1, and other applicable safety standards.
  • Conduct Safety Training: Provide training and toolbox talks to employees on safety procedures, hazard identification, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and emergency response.
  • Monitor Worker Safety: Observe work practices to ensure employees are following safety procedures and wearing required PPE at all times.
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards and risks on the job site and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate these risks.
  • Develop Emergency Response Plans: Prepare and implement emergency action plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid response, and communication protocols for emergencies.
  • Maintain Safety Documentation: Keep records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions, ensuring all documentation is up to date and accessible for audits.
  • Coordinate with Project Teams: Work closely with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure that safety and health standards are integrated into the overall construction process.

$100,000 to $150,000 per year

Qualifications

5 years in federal construction SSHO work.

Licenses/Certifications

Driver’s License (Required)
OSHA 30 (Required)
First Aid/CPR (Required)
EM-385-1-1 40 Hour (Preferred)

Travel Responsibilities

Ability to relocate to project location for duration of project.
